ChargeGuard - Privacy Policy

Kumudan Softwares built ChargeGuard as a mobile application to help users protect a charging phone by detecting unplug events and triggering alarms or warnings. This Privacy Policy explains what information ChargeGuard collects, how it is used, and what choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

A. Information stored locally on your device

ChargeGuard stores certain data locally on your device so the app can function properly. This may include:

• Your app settings and preferences, such as grace period, alarm sound, motion-detection settings, premium state, onboarding completion, and reminder settings.
• Your locally created PIN, which is stored in encrypted local storage.
• Local alarm and protection history, such as armed, disarmed, countdown, alarm, and degraded-state events.
• Temporary security state, such as failed PIN attempts and lockout timing.

This information is stored on your device and is not sent to our servers by the current version of the app.

B. Device and app state information

ChargeGuard accesses certain device state information to provide its core features, including:

• Charging and power connection status.
• Battery level and battery optimization state.
• Notification permission status.
• Full-screen alarm permission status on supported Android versions.
• Biometric availability status.
• Accelerometer availability and motion input when motion detection is enabled.

ChargeGuard does not collect your contacts, photos, messages, call logs, or precise location for its core functionality.

C. Biometric authentication

If you choose to use biometric unlock, ChargeGuard uses Android's biometric APIs to request authentication. ChargeGuard does not receive, collect, or store your fingerprint, face data, or other raw biometric information. Biometric matching is handled by your device's operating system.

D. Advertising and consent data

ChargeGuard uses Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) for ads and consent handling. If ads are enabled and allowed under your consent settings, Google and its partners may collect or receive information such as device identifiers, advertising data, diagnostics, and other ad-related information in accordance with Google's own privacy practices.

2. How We Use Information

ChargeGuard uses information to:

• Detect charging and unplug events.
• Arm and run protection features.
• Play alarms and show urgent notifications.
• Let you unlock protection with a PIN or biometric confirmation.
• Show local event history.
• Maintain app reliability and recovery behavior after interruption or reboot.
• Request and manage ad consent.
• Display ads in non-critical areas of the app where permitted.

3. Data Sharing

We do not currently operate our own backend to collect or store your ChargeGuard protection data.

We may share limited information with third parties only as needed to operate app services, including:

• Google AdMob, to load and display ads.
• Google UMP, to gather and manage user consent choices.

We may also disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or government request.

4. Data Retention

Because the current version of ChargeGuard stores most app data locally on your device:

• Your settings and local history remain on the device until you clear app data or uninstall the app.
• Your encrypted PIN remains on the device until changed, cleared, or the app data is removed.
• Ad and consent-related data may be processed or retained by Google under Google's own policies.

5. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information used by the app. For example:

• PIN data is stored using encrypted local storage.
• Local app backup is disabled in the current version.
• Certain sensitive screens are protected with secure display flags.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Choices

You can choose to:

• Grant or deny notification permission.
• Enable or disable certain app features.
• Use PIN-only or biometric-assisted unlock.
• Change ad privacy choices when available through the app's privacy options flow.
• Stop using the app at any time and remove local data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage in Android settings.

7. Children's Privacy

ChargeGuard is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. International Use

If you use ChargeGuard outside your home country, third-party services such as Google AdMob may process data in other countries subject to their own systems and policies.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
